Pippa turned up nice and early, which was a shame really as my delusion about leaving at 8am was coming to be realised for what it was. 9am wasn’t too bad though. It did mean that Toowoomba was morning tea and fuel and so Chinchilla for lunch wasn’t going to happen. So a good play in the park at Picnic Point was in order.
The Darling Downs snow, a.k.a. cotton was in good supply, with large amounts lining the roadside, and large bales in paddocks awaiting transport.
Chinchilla finally arrived for afternoon tea. Marma and Pop (Sally’s parents) were just leaving and with Lucy off at daycare and baby Sophie asleep, we had to cool our heels for a little. It wasn’t long though before Sophie woke up and so we had our chance to meet.
The full story of her dramatic arrival lived up to expectation. One can only wonder what the neighbours thought when Greg was hosing off linen stained with the spoils of childbirth on the clothesline. Still though, the local ambos were pleased to turn up to the sight of a healthy baby rather than the alternative.
