Crossing south over the Tropic of Capricorn today, Elliot took the opportunity to undertake a science experiment. He wanted to know whether it marked a demarcation between the warm north and the cool south. Following good scientific process he formulated a hypothesis that the line must mean something, so it must be warm in the north and cool in the south. He designed an experiment to test his hypothesis – he straddled the line and held a hand out either way, expecting to be able to feel a difference between his two hands.
The conclusion? The Tropic is a crock. He felt no difference. Perhaps a bit windier in the south.
Can’t argue with that!
