Backtracking, Then Along New Roads

Today we left Hayes Creek Roadhouse at a reasonable hour (well, around 8:30). We passed Emerald Springs Roadhouse and a few other towns. Once we got into Katherine, we started along the Victoria Highway towards the Victoria River Roadhouse. Next we went to Nawulbinbin where Izzy and Dad went on a walk to see some aboriginal Rock Art. Elliot, Mum and I didn’t go because it was 1.7 km in the hot sun and we weren’t feeling like it. We tried to get into Limestone Gorge in Gregory NP to camp, but it was closed due to some unknown reason. we are now booked into Bullita Homestead. Some of today’s photos.

  1. Hi Donald, Lynne and the gang,
Fin (Izzy's classmate) and I just hopped on to see what adventures you're having, and we're very impressed, and very jealous. Isn't this the most remarkable continent? So rich and varied in character and age, such awesome majesty, and so inadequately expessed through country music. Hint hint outback radio.
Fin's cousin works at the Red Rooster in Katherine, but we can't guarantee that they serve roosters there, but he'll serve you lot. though you're not even red.
If you're passing Mataranka Hot Springs, they're worth looking at to provide a colourful contrast to the parched land you've just been through.
We'll keep watching your blog with fascination, and remind the rest of the class.
    Best wishes, and safe travels,
    Fin and his Dad
P.S. Fin wants to see the letter posted on the site that wasn't posted on the site. You know the one. He says pretty please, and edited versions are fine.

  2. Hry Lyn, Tom here an I've got some bad news.....
I left my cello in the store room (school) for a day. When I brought it home and oppened the case guess what I found. My cello had been stepped on. Even though it was in it's case, the whole neck snapped off.....:( I was in tears and mum was gutted. School lent me an old one for the meantime (sounds like nails on blackboard) will be getting new one soon with fibreglass case!
Even worse I found out who did it. It turns out a percussionist knocked it over then mrs Gyte tripped over other instruments and stood on mine.
Hope your having fun on your holiday,
    Tom
