A Marketing Opportunity

Given people in the past have marketed fresh air and sunshine as souvenirs, it can’t be long until Kimberley Sunscreen hits the tourist shop shelves. Or perhaps it is Kimberley Fake Tan. Let’s just say that the fine red dust puts a lovely smooth coating on everything, imparting that warm, red glow seen in everybody's faces around here.

Yesterday, I finally wrote off the new blower, and ascertained that the old blower had finally run out of brushes. So we can safely count those two as casualties of the journey. Today we added a few more. Two of my water bottles, ex 3 litre fruit juice bottles, sprang a leak. One pierced on a point where it had been creased. The other worn through where it had been rubbing against the cargo barrier.

They weren’t the only failures. I also found out that it is possible to rub through the bottom of long-life milk cartons. Five hours on rough roads and corrugations was enough to spring a leak and leak just a little milk onto the shelf. Could have been messier than it was. Added to the general mess in the back, contributed to by a rain of muesli flakes from above mixed in with the water, the whole lot needed a bit of a clean out this afternoon.

No other dramas though. Those that know will be pleased to hear that ConcertCom is performing flawlessly on the roof. Mitsubishi will probably be less pleased to know that I had to pull the fuse on the windscreen wipers to stop them from coming on when the stick activates itself on the bumps.

And for those that always wondered, it is possible to whip cream by shaking the bottle.
