Diggers Rest Surprise

Today we had a few surprises, some good, some bad. We got away from the caravan at nine, then Dad went away to get the car serviced while we uploaded the previous blogs. We drove to the Coles to get groceries for the next week. We got in the car and drove the 100km to Wyndham, were we were met by a 20-metre crocodile. After driving around and stopping at a few places we got in the car and drove up to the Five Rivers Lookout, which isIMG_1483 where the Durack, Ord, Pentecost, King and Forrest Rivers empty into the Cambridge Gulf. We had lunch up there, then some of us went on a little walk around the jump-up. The whole area is surrounded by tidal mudflats, that stretch for up to 500m. You could see a long way from up there, so we were there for a while looking around the surrounding area. Then we went down to the port, which you could not drive on the road there, because they had closed the road. We drove to a cottage that was in ruins that had been built for magistrate but he never lived there. After that we drove down to the Boab Prison Tree and were going to go on a shortcut to El Questro, but the company had closed the road. We were rescued by a lady from Diggers Rest station, who said we could camp there. It is a fantastic place.

We had the cheapest Diesel for a long time today at 149.0 cents per Litre and it was a shame the fuel tank wouldn’t fill.
